VIII Secondary School

VIII Secondary School in Bydgoszcz was established on September 1, 1991 on the basis of the Medical School Campus and was initiated by its first headmaster, Marek Szefler, who held the function until 1996. Later, the position was taken over by Danuta Pasterska, and since 2006 the school has been headed by Aldona Sobień. Undoubtedly, these three strong personalities influenced the present shape of the facility.

In the first year of the school's existence in 1991/1992, there were four class departments. Over the years the school, responding to the constantly increasing interest of primary school (and later middle school) graduates, expanded its educational offer, with the number of classes constantly growing and now reaching 22 departments.

For many years the school has been one of the most student friendly secondary schools in Bydgoszcz. So what are the reasons for such popularity?

Undoubtedly, a real asset of the facility are its physical attributes: an attractive location enabling easy access by many bus and tram lines, a 25-meter swimming pool, a large playground, a well-stocked shop, a spacious library connected with a multimedia studio. However, it is the teachers and the students who contribute to the real face of this educational institution.

The qualified and committed teaching staff focuses in their didactic and educational plans on the comprehensive development of the students, taking into account individual abilities as well as their natural talents.

VIII Secondary School in Bydgoszcz is a school of merit, giving young people an opportunity to develop freely. The teachers are able to spot and appreciate a gifted student's personality, often even among seemingly controversial individuals, and develop their hidden talents and passions. This is facilitated by a wide range of clubs in which students can pursuit their interests, creating a unique atmosphere at school. Their ingenuity and joint initiative results in a thriving Student Council, and generates numerous ideas that make the school life full of joy and colour.

Young people attending our school are primarily conscientious students who, thanks to their work and commitment, successfully continue their studies at various universities across the country and frequently revisit us after completing their studies to recollect and enjoy the crazy years of their youth.
